Barring that I would guess some kind of driver issue. My USB ports still seem active (external hub lights remain on). Because Vista is OEM supplied, I have to use HP tech support and I can't even get them to understand I have uninstalled Norton and gone back AVG. if i calculated right, i got the error 57 times!. I did bootup in Safe Mode for a couple of days and there were no freezeups. A CCM membership gives you access to additional options. Start Windows in Safe Mode and then use System Restore to undo recent changes.
